Drewplex AT boiler water treatment is a phosphate-based solution enhanced with synthetic polymers, providing a highly effective, flexible, and simple treatment option for low and medium-pressure boilers. Drewplex AT ensures a cleaner boiler system by increasing tolerance for feedwater quality fluctuations, which is essential in maintaining system efficiency and reducing the potential for scaling or deposits.

The polymers in Drewplex AT act as deposit control agents by adhering to boiler water precipitates. This action keeps particles soft, non-adherent, and easily transported out of the system through blowdown. Drewplex AT also addresses iron dispersancy by sequestering iron-caused deposits, further ensuring system cleanliness and optimal function.

In addition to its deposit control and alkalinity control capabilities, Drewplex AT combines scale inhibition with corrosion protection. It specifically protects the after-boiler section from corrosion caused by low pH levels. When paired with Drewplex OX corrosion inhibitor, Drewplex AT provides a safe, modern, and comprehensive approach to a boiler water treatment program. This product can also be used with AMERZINE® or AMERSITE CHZ corrosion inhibitors for additional flexibility in system management.

Drewplex AT boiler water treatment holds NSF registration under category G6, confirming it as a nonfood compound suitable for use in boiler steam lines that contact food in processing facilities. It is also certified under category G7, marking it as appropriate for boiler steam lines in non-food contact applications within food processing establishments.

Makeup Water Quality

The main objective of a boiler water treatment program is to keep the boiler system free of deposits and corrosion. Drewplex AT is designed specifically to handle fluctuations in feedwater hardness, ensuring protection against unexpected quality issues. For best results, using distilled makeup water is recommended as it is the most effective way to prevent deposits from forming within the system.

Blowdown

Proper blowdown procedures are essential to the effectiveness of any boiler water treatment, including Drewplex AT. Follow the boiler manufacturer’s instructions carefully. Surface blowdown is necessary to reduce dissolved and suspended solids within the boiler. Drewplex AT works efficiently with a maintenance surface blowdown up to a neutralized conductivity of 700 μS/cm. If conductivity exceeds this level, the frequency of surface blowdown should be increased. Weekly flash-blowdown of the header drains or steam separator (when applicable) is also recommended to help reduce sludge buildup.

Application Instructions

Dosage, Testing, and Control

For effective application, Drewplex AT should be continuously dosed in its diluted form, along with either diluted Drewplex OX corrosion inhibitor or AMERZINE corrosion inhibitor. The Drew™ Beta Metering System can be used to introduce Drewplex AT into the feedwater line downstream of the feedwater recirculation off-take, which directs water to the hot well or cascade tank.

If feedwater recirculation is not present, Drewplex AT should be continuously dosed to the feed pump suction. A less preferred option is using a gravity feed flowmeter setup, as volatile components may be lost when recirculated water returns to the hot well or cascade tank.

By following these dosage and application guidelines, Drewplex AT boiler water treatment supports stable, effective boiler maintenance, ensuring clean and protected boiler operations in both food and non-food processing environments.
